Location and Local Area

The house is situated along a quiet country lane bordered by woodland, vines and sunflower fields, a pleasant stroll from the village of St Martin de Gurson.

This area is convenient for the charming town of Ste Foy la Grande, which has many restaurants and bars, as well as a colourful, traditional twice weekly market.

The Dordogne river flows alongside. Also well positioned for Bergerac and St Emilion, and the famous vineyards, wine and Perigourdine specialities typical of this beautiful region.
5 to 10 minutes from the sandy beach and facilities of the Lac de Gurson, this is a must for families.
 
Lac De Gurson

St Emilion. This is the famous wine-growing town of the area. A beautiful town where you can sample many of the local wines and taste the Pergourdine specialities typical of this beautiful region.1 hours drive away by the interesting local route.

Bergerac. Used to be a very busy Port used for exporting wine. This historic town is far less busy in the present day; you can take boat trips along the River Dordogne. The bars, shops and restaurants are plentiful. A 30-minute drive away.

Montpon. This is a quirky market town, on the banks of the River Isle. It has all the amenities to cater for your everyday needs. A 10-minute drive away.

St Foy La Grande. It has many bars and restaurants as well as a twice-weekly market. The River Dordogne flows alongside. A 20-minute drive away.

Castillion La Bataille. A Historic town site of the medieval battle between the English and French. The town holds annual fairs and re enacts the battle during the summer months.

La Grappe de Gurson. This is the local vineyard, where you can go and sample and then buy the local wine, it specialises in Red, Rose, White and sparkling so something for all tastes. Only a 2-minute drive from the house or 30-minute walk.


Le Petit Gurson is the local bar, which is very easy to walk to. Here you can sit in the summer and enjoy a cool beer in the sun with the locals many of which are British who have settled locally. It also caters in simple but tasty local cuisine.

Lac- De-Gurson. Whether you want to relax on the sliver sand with a cool drink or do something more energetic this lake has something for everyone. For families there is a swimming area, which is supervised with a shallow end for the smaller children. There are no tides to worry about so plenty of hours of sandcastle making while parents can relax and sunbathe! Plenty of restaurants for snacks and numerous picnic areas thoughtfully provided throughout the 63-hectare site. There are many activities to choose from including fitness trails, boules, volleyball, crazy golf and many more. A 5-minute drive or 50 minute walk from the house
